Something I’ve always struggled with is moderation.
I’ve been the kind of person who commits himself 100 percent.?From big things, such as a job, to small things like eating a pizza, I’ve never been proficient at knowing my limits.?This personality trait played a vital role within my unhealthy lifestyle prior to having me attack.?I had been 100 % dedicated to the bad choices I had been making every day.
On the other hand, my habit of jumping headfirst into things also managed to get very easy that i can invest in living the kitchen connoisseur after my heart attack, as well as the drive to challenge myself to complete the Chicago Marathon next month.
While training for the marathon, my have a problem with injuries has educated me in that over-committing to anything, good for you or not, isn’t necessarily a good thing.?I was over-training since i believed that, if I wasn’t pushing myself to the limit, i quickly wasn’t committed to my health.
Now, I am a healthy guy.?I consume a heart-healthy diet, but I’m allowed to treat myself, once along with a while.?I now understand that being healthy means being well-rounded.
I finally think I realize that to be the best version of myself doesn’t require me to totally quit my past.?I simply should try to learn to produce balance within my life.
When all has been said and done, I’ll have gone a lot farther than the usual marathon.?I’ve learned it’s Alright to stop and smell the roses-to take it easy. It’s OK to get pleasure from a lazy Sunday or Chicago-style hotdog. These small moments are necessary to keep moving.
